General Dentistry
Hygiene Therapy
Let our experienced team clean your teeth above and below the gumline, as well as offer teeth polishing, fluoride treatments, and a periodontal examination. We can also perform diagnostic X-rays when needed to assess your oral health.
Filling Replacements
If you have tooth decay or a damaged tooth, fillings are an effective way to restore their natural appearance. Besma Dental offers resin and amalgam as well as porcelain or gold inlay/onlay fillings to replace worn silver fillings, or to address abfraction near the gumline from improper brushing.
Dental Implants
These implants can be used to replace a missing tooth (or several) without affecting nearby teeth. Our dental implant products from BioHorizons are lightweight and durable and look and feel natural. Dental implants are also beneficial for preventing bone loss.
Inlays/Onlays
If you have a cracked tooth, inlays and onlays made from gold, porcelain or resin are an ideal way to address them. These can be helpful when the tooth is too damaged to support a basic filling, and they are custom-made to fit your tooth, giving it a natural look.
Root Canal Therapy
If you have jaw or tooth pain from a decayed tooth, root canal therapy can help provide relief while helping to prevent an infection from progressing to an abscess, resulting in more extensive treatment. Infected nerves are removed during the procedure, and the space is filled with a sealant for protection. A crown can also be added.
Extractions
In cases of disease or severe decay, crowding, or over retention of primary teeth, a tooth can be extracted and solutions such as dental implants or bridges can be considered to prevent teeth from shifting. Dr. Rashid can offer extractions with or without sedation.
Complete and Partial Dentures
Dentures are an effective way to replace missing teeth, whether they all have to be removed or only some of them. The dental office offers conventional and immediate complete dentures depending on your needs. Special care will be taken to ensure the comfort of the base and the selection of colour and shape of the teeth.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are ideal to cover over cracked, chipped, misshapen or discoloured teeth. The veneer is made from a thin shell of porcelain that is durable and protects your teeth from further damage.
Porcelain Crowns and Bridges
Crowns are an effective way to cap a damaged tooth while helping to maintain a natural look that is matched to the colour of your existing teeth. Bridges are cemented to cover a space from one or more missing teeth. These dental fixtures can help prevent shifting, which can cause pain from TMJ disorders.
Teeth Whitening
Even with proper oral hygiene, your teeth can lose their natural brilliance from food, drinks, smoking and other factors, including lack of dental hygiene. Teeth whitening can enhance your smile and give you greater confidence. Our dentists will use dental impressions to create the whitening trays and will educate you about the proper procedure, including filling and inserting them.
Invisalign®
These nearly invisible aligners are comfortable and easy to wear and are custom-designed for you! They are designed to gently shift your teeth into the desired position without the need for metal brackets and wires. The aligners can also be easily removed for cleaning.
Sedation Services
Many people are nervous in the dentist’s chair, have a tough time keeping their jaw open during a full procedure, or have a strong gag reflex. Depending on the situation, we offer some sedation options to help procedures go more smoothly while putting you at ease.
Nitrous Oxide/Oral Sedation
This option (also known as laughing gas), delivered through a mask, is effective within a few minutes, and there are no lingering side effects once the procedure is completed. Safe oral sedation is also available in pill form taken prior to procedures to make treatments relaxing and pain-free.
IV Sedation
This form of sedation takes effect quickly and can help you relax during procedures with a deeper state of calm. It is proven to be safe.
General Anesthesia
If you’re having oral surgery performed, general anesthesia could be an option. Dr. Rashid has privileges at Niagara Falls General Hospital and can perform procedures for patients with specific medical concerns in the hospital’s operating room after being assessed in-office.
